ter·ror·ism - The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
extremism - any political theory favoring immoderate uncompromising policies.
An environmental extremist gains a following by psychologically creating fear and intimidation in the hearts of the general public (often referred to in academia as 'the masses.') Another characteristic is an unbending unwillingness for any sort of compromise. The intent is to 'convince' society and government for ideological reasons.
